Pedasi: “The Tuna Coast”

Folklore cites word “Panama” means “Abundance of Fish”. It goes to reason since Panama is known for some of the best fishing in the world. Around 250 world records have been broken here while over 50 IGFA World Records have been set and held in Panama. If you want to hook a record fish in saltwater or freshwater, Panama offers you the best chance. Pedasi is known world wide for its fishing. No surprise as the continental shelf drops off sharply relatively close to shore (just 25 kms/13.5 miles offshore) and the waters depth reaches up to 600-1,000 feet. These depths are encountered at only a few miles offshore in some areas making it great for short daily sport fishing charters from Pedasi. Fishing from the beach is possible as well as there are numerous lunkers that will hit poppers on the surface.

What can you catch? PLENTY!

Year-round:

  • Amberjack
  • Pacific sailfish
  • Cubera snapper
  • Roosterfish
  • Grouper
  • Pacific Barracuda
  • Sierra Mackerel

More seasonally – November through April:

  • Dorado
  • Bigeye tuna
  • Yellowfin tuna
  • Wahoo

. . . and more.

Pedasi is also known as “The Tuna Coast” and is the best salt water sport fishing spot for tuna, deep sea fishing and wahoo in Panama. It is a major route for big eye tuna, yellowfin tuna and other pelagic gamefish such as the famous swordfish and marlin who are usually only found very far from mainland. Tunas and wahoos are known for its speed and invisibility making it some of the fastest and most exciting fish to catch on a sport fishing charter. People from all over the world come for the abundance of game fish and hoping for the catch of their lifetime. Even with little experience you can pull out trophy fish, one after the next, from these waters. It becomes a thrill to everyone, especially when you catch a monster tuna, marlin or sailfish.
